Tour Plan

The day before your trip, you will receive a weather report detailing what to expect in terms of temperature, sunshine, precipitation and wind. This will help you decide what extra clothing and items to bring.

The vehicle will be waiting for you at 10:00 am at the Bicycle monument, where you will be joined by other group members. After leaving the city you will arrive at the rafting camp in 70-80 minutes. Here you will have a 10-15 minute break before changing clothes and getting your rafting equipment.

Once you receive your life vest and helmet (paddles are given before the start of the rafting, they are the same for everyone), your rafting guide will give you rafting and safety instructions, explaining the general conditions of the river, what to do, what not to do and how to enjoy the experience at its best.

Then you will be transferred 13 km up the valley where you will start rafting down to the rafting camp. Rafting takes about 90 minutes and goes through the Pshavi Aragvi valley covered by forest.

After the rafting you will have 1 hour to have lunch at the Rafting Camp cafe or to go to the rope park. Then transfer back to Tbilisi.

Difficulty: Easy-Medium

Rafting on Aragvi river is relatively easy, on category 2 river (with ocassional 3 during the heavy rain). Each boat will have a rafting guide and each participant will be equipped with helmet, life-vest and paddle. It will be more of a scenic stroll, than adrenaline fueled paddling.

Safety

All our vehicles are regularly tested for technical performance. From Tbilisi you will be transferred by A/C minibus or bus (depending on the size of the group).

For rafting we use German and Czech professional rafting boats, with multiple air sections that prevent the boat from collapsing for a single puncture. Rafting guides are IRF certified.

Frequently Asked Questions

No previous rafting experience is required. The Aragvi River is mostly class II, occasionally class III during heavy rains. Complete beginners are welcome to join a tour.

Each participant will be equipped with a floating life jacket, which does not require you to swim, but rather to lie on your back and let the guide take you. You will receive detailed safety instructions upon arrival.

In the spring and early summer the river can be quite cold, as it’s mostly fed by snow, but in the summer it’s pleasantly cold for warm, sunny days. There is no need for wetsuits, but you can get one if you want.

Summer days can be hot, but sometimes it can be cool, depending on the clouds and rain.

Depending the size of the water, there will be different sizes of waves, but regardless of it, you shoes and pants will get wet. Most likely you will be wet from head to toes.

Unless the rain is extremely heavy and prolonged, it does not affect the rafting experience. You are going to get wet anyway, so rain is more of a plus than a minus.
