Starting in Tbilisi, your guide will lead you on a journey through the rugged terrain of the Lesser Caucasus mountains. Trip will take you off-road and onto challenging mountain trails.

You’ll also have the opportunity to experience local culture and traditions as you pass through small villages and towns. The tour will also include a visit to the famous cave towns and wine regions of the region. There you can indulge in some local delicacies and relax after a day of biking.

Tour Plan

Upon arrival at Tbilisi International Airport, driver will meet you and take you to the hotel. After checking in and freshening up, you will have the opportunity to test your bike and familiarize yourself with the equipment. Our guide will then provide an overview of the upcoming tour plan, including details of the routes, accommodations, and any information you need to know. This will give you the chance to ask any questions and to make any necessary adjustments to your gear before you set out on your adventure.

Accommodation: Hotel

We will begin our cycling adventure from Tbilisi, heading out of the city and ascending into the Trialeti mountain range. The climb will be challenging, but the views will be spectacular as we make our way along the ridge. Once we reach the summit, we will follow the ridge towards the small town of Manglisi. The route will be mostly on the dirt road with a few technical sections.

As we continue our journey, we will ascend through the Algeti National Park. After passing high altitude mountain ridge we will reach Javakheti volcanic plateau. The ride through the park will offer a mix of challenging climbs and moderate descents. Once we reach the Javakheti plateau, we will descent towards the town of Tsalka. This route is a combination of dirt and asphalt road, with a few technical sections, and occasional steep incline.

The next part of our journey will take us on a challenging but beautiful route, passing by the Tabatskuri lake and arriving in Bakuriani. will ride through small volcanic hills, flowery fields, and beautiful countryside. The route will be a mix of gravel road and field paths, providing a more rugged and adventurous experience.

Today our journey will be easier, as we will be descending down towards the main road of Akhaltsikhe. This will be an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful views and to relax after the challenging rides of the previous days. Afterwards, we will take a 30-minute car ride to the city where we will visit the Rabat Castle. This ancient fortress is a great example of medieval military architecture, and offers a glimpse into the rich history of the region. The visit will give you an opportunity to explore the castle and learn about its history and significance. After the visit, we will spend the night in the city and prepare for the next day of our adventure.

This morning we will start early and drive 15 minutes to the beginning of the trail. We will then get on our bikes and start climbing towards the Goderdzi Pass. The route will take us through local villages, giving us an insight into the daily life of the local people. After passing Beshumi we will reach the Goderdzi Pass. The route will be mostly on a rural gravel road. The pass offers stunning views of the Adjara Mountains and northern parts of Turkey.

Today our journey will be the most challenging as we will cross the rugged terrain of the Adjara Mountains in a single day. Our destination will be the top of the Guria region, where we will arrive at the Gomis Mta resort. The route will take us through several remote villages. Along the way we will pass open panoramas and remarkable mountain trails.

Accommodation: Montain Hut

The next day of our journey will be an epic day of downhill towards the Black sea. The route will take us through the Kintrishi National Park, offering a mix of technical descending and flat gravel roads. We will arrive in the cozy little settlement of Kobuleti, located at the shores of the Black sea. Kobuleti is a charming town known for its picturesque beaches and relaxing atmosphere. After some rest, we will take a 30-minute drive to the city of Batumi, where we will spend the night. Batumi is a modern and vibrant city, known for its unique architecture, delicious cuisine, and lively nightlife. This will be a great opportunity to explore the city and end our trip on a high note.

On the last day of our trip we will drive back to Tbilisi. The drive will take us through the beautiful Georgian countryside, giving us one last chance to take in the breathtaking views. After checking into the hotel, we will have a farewell dinner to celebrate the end of an epic adventure. This will be a great opportunity to look back on all the memories we have made and share stories with our fellow travelers. It will be a fitting end to an unforgettable journey.

Amenities & Accommodation

Trip includes all accommodation throughout the itinerary. Luxury and comfort is not the main theme, but whenever possible we will stay in high quality places. Preferably it will be a boutique hotel or family-run guesthouses. In Gomis Mta resort we will stay in a simple mountain hut with a shared bathroom.

Difficulty: Hard

This cycling trip requires prior mountain biking experience. Distances are not crazy, but sometimes there are lots of altitude gains with varied terrain. On the last day of cycling downhill is quite challenging and requires experience in narrows passages.

Useful to Know

Insurance

Having a travel insurance is not mandatory. If you purchase one, make sure to have a package that includes outdoor activities in the insurance conditions. Consult our travel consultants in this regard to make sure you have sufficient insurance coverage or to get information about where to get such insurance coverage.

Money

There are some places to spend your money in south Caucasus mountains, but most of the time in cash. As everything you will need during the trip is covered by us, you can bring 200-300 GEL for souvenirs and other personal expenses. In major cities you can use credit cards. Tipping is not mandatory, but is considered as a good practice.

Weather

Weather will be dramatically different from region to region. Tbilisi can be hot and dry, Javakheti volcanic plateau can be cold and windy, while Batumi will be humid and hot. Have clothes for temperatures 10 to 40 Celsius.

For this trip we offer Specialized and Ghost hard-tail mountain bikes. They are thoroughly checked prior to the trip and are in good conditions. If you decide to bring your own bike, you will get discount of $460 off of the tour price.

Yes, at all times there will be a support vehicle behind the group. Usually 10-15 minutes behind, to give the group quite experience of riding in mountains.

We don’t combine electric and non-electric bikes on the same tour. If other members of the group will be willing to upgrade to electric bikes, then there will be a separate electric bike group.
