Difficulty: Easy

Kayaking on this section of the Iori River is relatively easy, on a category 1 river. Each participant will have their own kayak, equipped with helmet, life jacket and paddle. It will be more of a scenic flow, not adrenaline fueled paddling. The difficulty of the trip is the relative length of the route, so prior fitness activities are recommended, especially for the shoulder muscles.

Safety

All our vehicles are regularly tested for technical performance. From Tbilisi you will be transferred by A/C minibus or SUV (depending on the size of the group).

For Kayaking we use sit-on or sit-in non-flatable hard kayaks.

Frequently Asked Questions

No kayaking experience is required. The Iori River is a class I river with no to small waves. The kayaks we use are lake kayaks, they are super stable and easy to control. Complete beginners are welcome to join a tour.

Everyone on a trip is equipped with a life jacket and swimming is not required. Most of the time the river is shallow enough for everyone to stand on their feet, but when the current is slow it can be deep. In these cases tipping over is highly unlikely as the kayaks are super stable, but with a life jacket on you won’t need to swim.

We have one 2-person kayak, so you can sit with your partner or a child.

It is cold all year round because the river flows from the bottom of the Sioni reservoir.

Unless you fall out of the kayak, you won’t get wet except for a few splashes from paddling.

Unless the rain is extremely heavy and prolonged, it will not interfere with the kayaking experience. Wetsuits can be arranged in advance or you can bring a raincoat.
