Wine Tour №1
Day 1: Arrival. Transfer from Tbilisi to Mtskheta, ancient capital of Georgia, visit Jvari monastery of 6th century and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral of 11th century – UNESCO World Heritage sites. Afterwards drive to Gori and also visit Uplistsikhe Cave town (II – Ist millennium BC). On the way back, travellers will visit local family’s cellar “Iago’s cellar” in vil. Chardakhi. Overnight in hotel in Tbilisi
Day 2: Drive to Kakheti region – East from Tbilisi, the wine producing region in Georgia. We visit David Gareja is a rock-hewn Orthodox monastery complex and Sighndghi – city of love, as it is being called in recent years. Here we will have wine degustation in cellar “Pheasant tears”. Overnight in hotel in Sighnaghi.
Day 3: Drive to Kvareli, town of the birthplace of famous wine Kindzmarauli and also Kvarelilake. Visit the wine tunnel “Gvirabi”. Overnight in hotel in Kvareli.
Day 4: Drive to visit Gremi fortress (XVI c), which was the main city in Kakheti region in the past. Afterwards, the trip continues to Telavi – administrative center of Kakheti. Drive to Tsinandali and visit A. Chavchavadze museum with it’s famous wine making factory. Then the route lays towards Ikalto monastery complex. Overnight in hotel inIkalto.
Day 5: Drive back to Tbilisi, free time. In the evening travellers will visit wine cellar, where they can enjoy traditional Georgan folk show, dances and of course, Georgian cuisine. Overnight in hotel in Tbilisi.
Day 6: Departure.
During the tour our guest will have the opportunity to participate in the process of making Georgian bread, home-made dishes, sweets “Churchkhela”(walnuts coated in grape juice and flour) and traditional “Mtsvadi”, as well as brewing of Georgian Vodka “Chacha” and taste different kind of red (“Saperavi”, “Mukuzani”, “Kindzmarauli”) and white (“Rkatsiteli”, “Tsinandali”) Kakhetian wine which is made in traditional “Kvevri”.
